FPL GW3 predicted line-ups: Barcola benched and the big selection calls

Key selection calls

GW3's biggest calls sit at Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Leeds and Spurs. Barcola is available but short of conditioning; City's deadline signings are model darlings with debut risk; Caicedo needs a late check; Elvedi should replace Rodon; and Spurs have several famous names returning only as substitutes. The name on the shirt remains less useful than the likely number on the minutes clock.

The 20-club receipt below uses the official FPL positions and current xMins to audit who owns the strongest numerical route. It is not a tactical-formation oracle. The written calls then layer manager evidence over that baseline.

Predicted changes

• Arsenal: Ezri Konsa has the cleanest route if Cristhian Mosquera fails his late check; Myles Lewis-Skelly should stay in midfield, with Eberechi Eze pressing Christos Tzolis on the left.
• Aston Villa: The midfield absences make Boubacar Kamara and Ross Barkley likelier, while Nicolas Jackson remains the model's leading central-forward route at 59.4 expected minutes.
• Bournemouth: The same XI is plausible again. Tyler Adams is the principal challenger to Lewis Cook; elsewhere the selection board is mercifully short of conspiracy theories.
• Brentford: Mikkel Damsgaard should continue for Mathias Jensen. Keane Lewis-Potter has the current left-sided edge, while Jaidon Anthony and Dango Ouattara contest the right.
• Brighton: Mats Wieffer's absence opens a defensive call between Costinha and Olivier Boscagli. Georginio Rutter and Yasin Ayari can return, but both sit near 51 modelled minutes.
• Chelsea: Moisés Caicedo is the late fitness call. The model has him at 48.8 minutes, so any FPL selection needs a real substitute rather than positive thinking in a tracksuit.
• Coventry City: Frank Onyeka is available and projected for 72.7 minutes; Sidiki Cherif is likelier to appear later, with only 32.8 modelled minutes.
• Crystal Palace: Eddie Nketiah and Jørgen Strand Larsen have the clearest central routes without Jean-Philippe Mateta. Dario Osorio can challenge for the vacated right-wing role.
• Everton: Continuity remains the favourite: Thierno Barry leads the line, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Tyrique George among the strongest model minutes behind him.
• Fulham: The three deadline signings are unlikely to start immediately. Gonzalo García remains the model's leading forward at 81.8 expected minutes.
• Hull City: Back-to-back wins argue for a largely unchanged XI. Brooke Norton-Cuffy comes into the equation if Lewie Coyle is not cleared; Tim Iroegbunam could debut.
• Ipswich Town: Emersonn should retain the forward role. Darnell Furlong or Abdoul Ouattara could enter at right-back, and Exequiel Palacios challenges Marcelino Núñez centrally.
• Leeds: Nico Elvedi is the direct Rodon replacement. One of Harry Wilson, Noah Okafor and Brenden Aaronson is likely to miss out further forward.
• Liverpool: Barcola is available but unlikely to start. Cody Gakpo and Victor Muñoz lead the model's wing minutes, with Dominik Szoboszlai also available for an emergency shift at right-back.
• Man City: The model loves Enzo Fernández and Iliman Ndiaye immediately, but an unchanged front six with both arrivals introduced from the bench remains credible. Magnificent fixture, industrial-strength rotation headache.
• Man Utd: Benjamin Šeško is near the starting threshold at 67.8%; Mason Mount remains a cameo projection. Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo carry the secure attacking roles.
• Newcastle: An unchanged XI is plausible. Matias Fernandez-Pardo is fit but only 47.7% to start in the model; Jacob Ramsey is the main pressure on Joe Willock.
• Nott'm Forest: Daniel Muñoz could replace Ola Aina if trusted from the start. Ibrahim Sangaré is available and projected for 67.1 minutes; Liam Delap remains a cameo.
• Spurs: Sávio is back but still only 14.5% to start in the model. James Maddison and Mykhailo Mudryk are managed-minute options, not sudden 90-minute bankers.
• Sunderland: Habib Diarra's absence forces a midfield change. Malick Fofana threatens Nilson Angulo's left-wing minutes, while Wilson Isidor continues to push Brian Brobbey up front.

Minutes risks

The sharpest disagreement is at Manchester City. Enzo Fernández (85.0 xMins, 94.5% start) and Iliman Ndiaye (86.6, 98.0%) sit high in the production feed, while the fresh team-news reading allows for bench introductions. That does not invalidate the model; it identifies the exact assumption an FPL manager is buying.

Liverpool's hierarchy is clearer for this week: Gakpo sits at 83.5 expected minutes and Barcola at 15.3. That is not a claim that Gakpo is safe forever. Barcola plays on the left, so future Gakpo minutes can fall unless Iraola uses him elsewhere or keeps rewarding him there.

Other managed returns are easier to avoid. Maddison is at 12.2 minutes, Mudryk 15.4, Sávio 25.9, Mount 9.8 and Fernandez-Pardo 43.3. Buying any of them for GW3 would be less a differential and more an unsolicited stress test.

Iraola's Barcola warning is why availability and start probability must stay separate.

“Enzo is ready.”

Maresca's wording is positive, but 'ready' can cover anything from starter to first substitute. City's depth has never shown much respect for our colour-coded spreadsheets.

“I don't think the new players are ready to start, yet.”

Arbeloa was unusually direct about Fulham's deadline arrivals, strengthening the case for the established XI.

“Be smart with the load management.”

Jaissle's line on Fernandez-Pardo fits the model's sub-50% starting estimate.

FPL implications

For FPL, prioritize players whose manager evidence and model minutes agree. Gakpo remains a credible one-week starter, but Barcola makes his medium-term left-wing security weaker. Elvedi gains a durable route at Leeds. Palace's fit forwards inherit opportunity. Caicedo, the Spurs returnees and the fresh City attackers demand either a strong bench or a very healthy appetite for chaos.

The best lineup prediction is not the one with the most names; it is the one that shows where the uncertainty lives. Build around the green zones, price the amber zones honestly and leave the red zones to managers who enjoy watching the team-sheet graphic through their fingers.
